Rocky Mountain Steel Structures is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Bookkeeper to manage our daily financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of construction accounting and will be responsible for ensuring our projects remain profitable through meticulous job costing, payroll management, and tax compliance. Key Responsibilities QuickBooks Management: Maintain all financial records in QuickBooks Desktop/Online, including bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance. Job Costing: Track expenses, labor, and materials specifically to each steel structure project to provide accurate profitability reports. Payroll Processing: Manage weekly/bi-weekly payroll for field crews, including tax withholdings, worker’s compensation tracking, and prevailing wage reporting if applicable. Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process vendor invoices, manage lien waivers, and handle client billing (including progress billings/AIA style if required). Tax Knowledge: Prepare and file monthly/quarterly sales tax and payroll tax returns. Assist our CPA with year-end tax preparation. Financial Reporting: Generate monthly Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets for ownership review. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience: 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, specifically within the construction or trades industry. Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft Excel. Tax Fluency: Strong understanding of federal and state payroll taxes and local sales tax regulations. Attention to Detail: Ability to catch "reverence" errors (minor discrepancies) before they become major financial issues. Integrity: High level of discretion and respect for confidential financial data. Preferred Qualifications Experience with "Contractor Edition" QuickBooks. Familiarity with 1099 filing and subcontractor insurance verification (COI tracking).
