Fraser Valley Community Media - Underwriting Manager
Location: KFFR Studios (In-person), Fraser CO
Position Type: Full-Time (Flexible hours, typically 32 hours per week)
Schedule: In-person and remote with at least 2 days per week in office.
Pay Range: $25-30 per hour and 30% for outside sales/acquisitions and 10% for inside sales.
Benefits: Mileage reimbursement, Up to $700 towards a season pass from one of the region’s

Summary:
Fraser Valley Community Media, operating KFFR, is a community hub for Grand County,
empowering people through broadcasting while supporting the local economy and the arts by
partnering with local businesses, nonprofits and municipalities. It was founded in 2007, when the
FCC opened a brief application window for full-power, noncommercial educational FM radio license
operating. We were granted the license for KFFR, broadcasting at 10,000 watts. We received a
second license for KWTR in 2022, to broadcast at 89.1 FM at 108 watts. KWTR began broadcasting
in February, 2025.
The station serves Grand County, Colorado and is operated out of its studio in Fraser and Winter
Park. While primarily a music station with 50 volunteer DJs, we are expanding our news coverage
to include local information, county announcements, and community profiles of local leaders. We
are funded through underwriting, local and national grants, and membership.
Position:
KFFR seeks a dynamic Underwriting Manager who will be responsible for achieving KFFR
underwriting revenue goals by building and maintaining relationships with local, regional and
national corporate and business donors in order to secure regular underwriting donations. This
position is expected to participate in fundraising activities and outreach events to represent the
station and increase visibility and contracts within the community.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, with compensation including base salary and commission. It is expected that the
Underwriting Manager checks in daily with KFFR staff and facilitates the production and scheduling
of underwriting announcements every Monday and Tuesday. Every week, the position should spend
2 days soliciting underwriters with at least two days in the office and a consistent presence at KFFR
outreach events.
Job Duties:
1. Secure underwriting donations from businesses in order to meet or exceed station
underwriting budget goals while building and maintaining a portfolio of 70+ past and current
underwriters. Develop and maintain work plans and data management systems to track
productivity and communicate progress. Develop and grow an extensive portfolio of potential
underwriters.
2. Manage all steps of the underwriting sales process from initial contact to thanking the
underwriter for their support. See Underwriting Process Addendum. This position will be
responsible for:
a. Creating or renewing the contract and obtaining approval from the underwriter.
b. Composing and producing underwriting messages for pre-recorded and on-air reads
in accordance with FCC regulations and policies.
c. Facilitate schedule to add or remove audio messages that are no longer relevant or
have expired.
d. Entering all account information into KFFR’s CRM, Little Green Light.
e. Ensuring that billing and payment are managed in an accurate and timely way,
including following up with underwriters when payment is overdue.
f. Ensuring recognition of underwriters by sending thank you cards and coordinating
underwriting appreciation gatherings.
g. Ensuring the business directory on KFFR website is accurate and current.
3. Maintain relationships with underwriters for renewal, upgrade and recognition purposes.
Actively monitor existing contracts to ensure accounts are renewed prior to expiration.
4. Update systems and reports on underwriting revenue generated, new and renewed
donations, prospects and other related activities.
5. Solicit individual and business sponsors for KFFR events such as the Membership Drive,
Sound of Grand County, 80s Night, and the AlpenGlow Bounce.
6. Meet with the Executive Director regularly to discuss marketing opportunities.
7. Attend KFFR events to to develop relationships with current and potential underwriters.
8. Manage the strategy behind digital marketing efforts and work closely with the Office
Manager to develop strategies for increasing outreach efforts.
9. Perform other duties as the Executive Director may request.
Qualifications
Required Education:
● Bachelors’ degree in or equivalent combination of education and experience in revenue
generating disciplines such as sales, marketing, donor development and solicitation,
fundraising or major giving programs.
Required Experience:
● 1 to 3 years in sales and marketing.
● At least 1 year of responsibility in sales management.
● Strong verbal and written communication skills.
● Exceptional organization skills with attention to detail.
● Proficiency in google products.
● Familiarity with digital editing, studio production, and automation software.
Preferred Experience:
● Bilingual Spanish and English
● Proven ability to grow sales.
● Proficiency working with computers; traffic systems and automation software; database,
spreadsheet, and Google Docs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● Understanding of public radio programming best practices and principles.

● Enthusiasm for the critical role of public media in a rapidly changing journalism environment.

activities.
